OUR DISCIPLINE

Applied Innovation

Innovation is a practice. Applied innovation projects are focused on solving specific problems or challenges while using the tools of innovation.

Sensemaking

Any brand or business that hopes to make sense of consumer insights, new products, or service opportunities needs to engage in sensemaking.

A key part of the innovation process that helps socialize ideas, manage ambiguity and uncertainty, and begin the evolution of ideas, sensemaking seeks to balance divergent exploration with convergent analysis, sustain an holistic awareness of emerging consumer needs and values, make sense of the forces that will help shape the acceptance of new products, and clarify competitive opportunities to establish the most effective starting points.

Prototyping

Whether designing a product, service experience or business model, rapid prototyping is at the heart of our methodology.

We use simulations, illustrations and models to quickly assess viability, test business concepts, mitigate risks, facilitate strategic discussions, gather early user feedback, establish performance benchmarks and project future performance. Our prototyping process creates tangible futures that bring insights and ideas to life.

Workshops

How many managers have challenged their teams to THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX only to be disappointed that their output of inspirations or ideas feel decidedly inside?

At LWSG, we understand that the box is bigger than the office cubicle; it’s an entire ecosystem of assumptions, practices, principles and processes. All of our workshop offerings are designed to get teams out of that ecosystem and into a new frame of mind where everyone can reset, rethink and re-imagine business challenges.

Half day, full day, or more, our team of anthropologists, sociologists, futurists, strategists, designers, technologists and others are available to put new lenses on old problems, introduce Design Thinking methodologies and inspire our clients to see things differently.

Immersion Journeys

Sometimes all it takes to spark the seed of an innovative idea is a reset that brings a new lens on life or introduces a set of new experiences.

Led by our anthropologists, Immersion Journeys are semi-structured, semi-guided tours of local, national or global destinations that are designed to expose client team members to the kinds of people, places and experiences that can help make a concept rich and more relevant. From exotic markets to local restaurant scenes, they expose teams to the immediate social, interactional, sensual and human side of any topic – food, drink, mobile, health, commerce and beyond – where real innovation begins.
